Security certificate issue October 06, 2008
We are having an issue with our security certificate. Sorry for the inconvenience, we should have this resolved shortly.

Smedge 3 version 2.4 updated September 23, 2008
Smedge 3 2.4 update 1 fixes these issues from the initial release last week:

- Virtual Modules were always skipping error text detection.
- Fixed daemon installer problem on OS-X
- Submit License dialog did not allow copy of Master ID on OS-X
- Fixed engine service installation problem on Windows
- Windows Uninstaller shortcut had wrong path name

Also I added some of the common ignorable error messages that Maya produces into the default Maya.ini file. This should decrease the need to disable error text detection.

Please let me know if you experience any problems with the update version. Thank you

Smedge 3 version 2.4 is released! September 15, 2008
Well, it's finally here. With all the drama and delay behind us, we are proud to present Smedge 3, version 2.4.0, for Windows, Linux and Mac, available for immediate download!

This version is a major improvement in all aspects of Smedge operation and stability. The largest new change, of course, is the seamless addition of the OS-X platform. But there are changes throughout the entire system that will make it more reliable and easier to use than ever.

Now that the OS-X port is done, we are open to other possibilities for porting Smedge (PlayStation 3 hardware, anybody?), and for new Modules. We have a list of near term changes and improvements in the Modules, and we have a longer term plan for the next major release of Smedge, coming sometime next year, with a whole new database system that will simplify installation and maintenance and improve performance.

For a complete list of changes, see the Smedge 3 Changes page.

Forums and Sales are online again! September 10, 2008
OK, I think we're pretty much back to normal. The forum system and the sales page should both be working normally again. Please let us know if you have any problems, or notice anything usual!

Security is working again September 09, 2008
Our security certificate has been installed on our new server. You can now log in with confidence. We are currently working to get the sales page and the forums back online (the forum content was preserved).

Thank you for your continued patience as we make the transition to our new server.

Web site woes September 08, 2008
Hello all.

Our most humble apologies for the recent web site woes. Our old server company had a "partial data loss" event on our server, resulting in the complete loss of all files associated with our account, and no backup. Thankfully, we had a recent backup, but the resulting failure was so devastating that it took out every email account as well as the entire web site. That, of course, would have been bad enough, but the company then proceeded not to even bother to re-enable the email configuration for three days.

Needless to say, we have moved to a new server. Please bear with us during this transition. Once everything is up and running on the new machine, it should prove more reliable than ever.

Currently, our security certificate is not installed correctly, so you will see a scary warning if you try to access any of the secured pages. Please feel free to continue to use the site without fear, we are still the same company and will still respect your privacy. However, if you are not comfortable, please contact us directly by email or telephone, and we will be happy to help you.

Unfortunately, this tragedy also has delayed our release of Smedge 3 version 2.4. However, rest assured that it is ready. I should have it all packaged up and ready to go this week.

Once again, our most sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused, and rest assured things should be back to normal in no time.

Siggraph and Smedge August 18, 2008
Well, Siggraph is over, and we're getting back to normal. The exhibition itself was fun and successful, and it was great for people to see the current Smedge, running on Macs the same as on Windows.

We are now working to finish the installers and the documentation, the only things remaining to be finished for the next release. The official release will be available before the end of the month. We will be posting more information here as it becomes available.

As always, please contact us if you have any questions about Smedge, or any requests for features or functionality. Thank you for your support!

Siggraph is coming up! July 22, 2008
Don't forget, we'll be at booth 150 at Siggraph 2008. Siggraph is open August 12 - 14 here is sunny Los Angeles. Be sure to stop by and see what we've been up to!

We still have a few passes left to give away, so if you want a free pass to the show floor, drop us a line and we'll hook you up. Supplies are limited, though, so don't wait!

Also, if you have some cool project that you rendered with Smedge, send it our way, and we can show it at Siggraph. Why not show off your work as we show off the power of Smedge?

Email should be working again July 11, 2008
We had our mail server compromised by spammers yesterday. My ISP installed some new security measures overnight, which ended up being a bit draconian and blocked all email traffic. Fun. Things should now be working again. If you have any problems emailing us, please post a message on the Forums and let us know. If possible, include all the mail headers, so we can pass it along to the server administrators. Thank you, and sorry for any inconvenience.

New Forums are now online! July 07, 2008
The forums are back. You need to log in to post a message. Please let us know if you have any problems with the new system.
