Lightwave Module Fixed April 17, 2007
The Lightwave Module was not working correctly in Smedge 3 version 2.0.7+. We have released the code for the Lightwave module as an example of how to create a Module using the Smedge API. In doing so, we added lots of comments to the code, and accidentally commented out one of the required methods for normal Module operation. This has been fixed.

You can download the fixed Module directly from the link below. The module has also been updated in the installer, and in the API, both available from the Downloads page.

Engine ID bug fixed in Smedge 3 version 2.0 March 15, 2007
If you have cloned the OS on your Engines and have experienced any problem getting Engines to connect to Smedge 3 version 2.0.7, you can download the patched build (2.0.8) now.

Versions 2.0.7 and 2.0.8 are completely interoperable. You can update only the machines that are affected by the ID problem.

Please note that this fix will affect how the Master encrypts its license code. You can either choose not to update the Master (this change will not affect Master's operation), or you can regenerate your license code.

You can download just the patched file here:
RLib version 2.0.8, or you can download the version 2.0.8 installer.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Smedge 3 API for version 2.0.7 now available March 13, 2007
The API for version 2.0.7 is now available for download. It includes the headers, libraries, and the entire suite of Smedge component applications and Modules compiled against the debug libraries. Though the files are well commented, there is no separate API documentation as of yet. There are 3 examples, though, including the source for the uidgen program, the PoolManager Shell application and the Lightwave.sx Module.

Please note that 2.0.7 is not binary compatible with any earlier releases, even the earlier 2.0.x beta releases. This is the official locked API for version 2.0, so any additional future releases in the 2.0.x line will be binary compatible with this version of the API.

Linux binaries are not included at this time.

Please contact api@uberware.net if you have any questions.

  • Unified Engine configuration dialog with load/save/default functionality
  • New Blender Module
  • Improved memory utilization
  • Nicer date formatting

  • Fixed several possible Master crash sources related to the Work database design with new Work database system
  • Cinema 4D and 3DS Max Modules were not passing the extra parameters to the actual commandline
  • Engine Maximum CPUs value could get set to a different value than the actual number of CPUs on the machine
  • Herald does not obtain the $(ImageName) or $(Note) parameters.
  • BoolOverride type is not detecting if a value is at its default
  • Fixed possible crashes in Memory systems, as well as improved memory system performance.

Bug fixed in Smedge 3 version 2.0.6 January 02, 2007
I'm sorry to report that a bug was found in the Smedge 3 version 2.0.6. The Job command names are not being processed correctly. This can lead to problems in strange places, for example, rendering multiple frame packets, where the "Start" and "End" commands are not properly splitting the frame range up.

The bug has been fixed. You can get more information and links to download the patch from the announcement message linked to below.
