Sorry for the recent web site issues! August 02, 2007
This morning's downtime was actually a scheduled downtime from our ISP. They were moving our server to a new location. I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

We are also working to resolve the ongoing security certificate problem. Our SSL certificate was recently renewed, only the installation did not go as smooth as expected. Our ISP is currently working to resolve the renewed certificate issues. Please rest assured that we take your online security very seriously, and we hope to have the problem fixed shortly.

Linux uninstaller problem fixed June 23, 2007
If you have installed Smedge 3 on Linux before June 23, 2007, do not run the uninstall script in the downloaded distribution. The uninstall script can wipe the system folder that has all of the daemon startup scripts on your system.

This sript problem has been fixed. After June 23, 2007, the uninstall script has been fixed in all public Linux installer packages available online. You can just download the installer version you are using again, or you can download just the fixed uninstall script here:

New addition to the Uberware family June 07, 2007
My first child, Rorick Maxwell Morland Scher (Rory Scher for short) was born yesterday. He came into the world weighing 6 lbs, 15 oz, and 19 inches long, and is mellow, curious, and beautiful (if I do say so myself).

We will be coming home from the hospital on Friday, and Uberware should be back to normal operations next week. Thank you for your patience as we settle into our new lives together.

Smedge 3 fixed for Windows 2000 May 18, 2007
Windows 2000 users can now take advantage of all of the improvements in Smedge. Internal changes made as part of the compatibility with Linux broke on Windows 2000, and this point release addresses the problem.

This release is for Windows only. Though it will work just fine on newer versions of Windows, it is only necessary for Windows 2000. This release will work seamlessly with machines that are already running Smedge 3 version 2.1.0 without any problems.
