Does my Smedge license allow me to render on a machine that does not have a mental ray (or other Product) license?

Smedge licensing only governs how Smedge component applications are allowed to run. It does not control the licensing of the actual product you are using to render (e.g., mental ray, Maya, Lightwave, etc...). If a machine does not have a valid license for a particular product, then Jobs of that Product will fail.

For some Products, you can see this type of error directly in the Job History. For others, you can usually find it by looking at the saved captured output from the failed packets. Right click on a "Failed" history item in the Work unit's history, and choose "View Captured Output" from the context menu.
