Why does an Engine show up more than once in the Engines List?

Before Smedge 3 version 2.0.8, Smedge generated its own ID for each Engine, and stored this ID in the Engine's configuration file on the local machine. Each time this file was re-created, the Engine would generate a new ID for itself. When this happened, the Master would know about the old ID, which it would list as offline, and learn about the new one. Because the Master only differentiates Engines by ID, it had no way to know if a new Engine actually referred to an existing, offline Engine, and it created a duplicate entry.

You can fix this by removing offline Engines, using one of the remove offline Engine commands available in the Engine menu. You must be in Administrator Mode to access these commands.

Smedge 3 version 2.0.8 and later should no longer experience this problem, as the Engine's ID comes from the unique hardware address of the primary network interface, which should not change as long as you do not change the networking hardware on your machine. If you do, however, you can still use the remove offline Engine commands to remove ay duplicate entries.
