Where does the name "Smedge" come from?

A long time ago, there was a little tool called “skedge” that was used to schedule Wavefront renders on SGI boxes. Eventually, Wavefront merged with Alias, and Maya was born. It wasn’t long until Maya was ported to Windows. Unfortunately, Alias’ “Dispatcher” was not ported, and tools like “skedge” were Unix based. So, I started writing my own render manager. When trying to come up with a name, I thought of “skedge for Maya”, which became “Smedge.”
